ATMs in Laos

Only  Banque pour le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL), Australia New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) and Joint Development Bank (JDB) have international ATMs accepting PLUS and CIRRUS cards for VISA, MasterCard, JCB and Diners Club, Maestro and Cashpoint.

Each bank has different transaction limits, for example ANZ allows withdrawls up to 2 million kip per transaction with a 40,000 kip fee and an 8 million kip daily maximum. JDB allows up to 1 million kip per transaction and a 30,000 kip fee with a 4 million kip per day maximum. BCEL offers only 700,000 kip per transaction for a 30,000 kip fee with a limit of 2 million per day.

Other banks, such as Public Bank, offer their own branch-specific ATM cards which cannot be used at any other bank.  Unfortunately there are currently only two locations for Public Bank ATMs – at the head office and at the branch near the Wattay Airport.
