Chinese Premier Meets Laos PM

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong in Nanning on Monday, pledging to further their all-round strategic partnership.

Li made the remarks during his meeting with his Lao counterpart during the 10th ASEAN-China Expo, which is set to run from Sept. 3-6 in Nanning, capital of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Li said as good neighbours, China and Laos can further promote strategic coordination, economic cooperation and extensive cultural exchange, and work together on major projects in transportation, energy and agriculture, so as to lift China-Laos relations to a new level.

He called on Laos to continue to contribute to China-ASEAN ties and lay sound foundations for the upcoming East Asia Summit in Brunei in October. Mr. Thongsing said cooperation with China is of particular importance to the economic and social development of Laos.

He said Laos is ready to maintain high-level exchanges with China and coordinate regarding international and regional affairs, implement projects of cooperation and exchange experiences in law enforcement, security and cultural areas, so as to advance the development of bilateral ties.
