Laos Reports First Cases Of African Swine Fever

Following reports that neighboring Vietnam has culled more than 2.5 million hogs since February, Laos has reported to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) a series of seven cases of African swine fever (ASF) in the southern portion of the Southeast Asian country.
According to OIE, the seven reports totaled 973 cases in neighboring villages that began June 2. Animal health authorities confirmed the ASF outbreaks June 17 and submitted a report to OIE June 20.
