Laos To Lead ASEAN In 2016

Lao PDR has launched a logo, campaign theme and website to support its ASEAN chairmanship in 2016.

The campaign features will focus on welcoming the ASEAN Economic Community era in 2016.

Lao News Agency reported the theme of ASEAN 2016 is “Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community”.  It also launched its website www.asean2016.gov.la.

The ASEAN 2016 logo features 10 connected circles, comprising an eye and joined hands around the ASEAN Emblem symbolising the bond of the ASEAN Community.

ASEAN will announce the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community 31 December this year.

The bloc is developing what it calls the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and its attendant documents which will be adopted by the ASEAN leaders at the 27th ASEAN Summit to be held on 18 to 22 November in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Lao PDR’s ASEAN chairmanship begins in January, 2016 and will mark a period for ASEAN to focus on strengthening the ASEAN community by implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.

Tourism is one the key areas expected to expand when the single era kicks in.
