KIH Vientiane is a joint venture between the Bangkok Chain Hospital Public Company Limited (“BCH”) and a Lao investor, with registered capital of 120 billion kip.

BCH is operating the business under its strategic plan and market segmentation by introducing a new hospital brand with the name “Kasemrad International Hospital (KIH)” in order to capture the gap between mid-end and high-end patients.

It started off with the first KIH branch “Kasemrad International Hospital Rattanatibeth”, followed by a second branch in Vientiane, Laos, called Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane.

The new KIH hospital in Vientiane will be built under the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Joint Commission International (JCI) standards. The company will spend around 20-24 months on construction and the hospital is expected to open in 2020, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BCH Assoc. Prof. Dr Chalerm Harnpahnich said at an exclusive dinner event.

The hospital will cost around US$70 million which will be divided into two phases. The first phase will cost around US$50 million and the second phase will cost around US$20 million, while the hospital will be able to provide comprehensive medical services to patients in the first phase, he added.

“We intend to provide comprehensive medical services with high-tech medical equipment and experienced doctors to all types of patients in Laos,” said Dr Chalerm.

Deputy managing director of KIH Vientiane Ms Valy Vetsaphong said they had wanted to build a private hospital for a long time and fortunately had met a joint investor who had a lot of experience in the hospital business.

The new hospital is located on a 1.92 hectare site in Donnokkhoum village, Sisattanak district. It will have 254 beds and 38 medical check rooms.

This private hospital will provide an alternative for patients in Laos to access quality medical services and help to discourage local people from using medical services in neigbouring countries, she said.

BCH was established in 1984 and listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 2004. BCH has registered and paid up capital of 2,494 million baht.

Currently, BCH owns and operates 12 private hospitals and a polyclinic under four hospital brands including World Medical Hospital (WMC), Kasemrad International Hospital (KIH), Kasemrad Hospital (KH) and Karunvej Hospital (KV).
