Public Warned Over Fake Foreign Scholarships

The Ministry of Education and Sports has warned parents not to believe the content of an online site that promises to help students get a government scholarship to study in China.

The warning was issued last week after the fake scholarships were advertised online as being available for 2020-2021. In fact, the Chinese government has not yet approved any scholarships for Lao students.

Unfortunately, some students applied for the scholarships and went to China but found out that the information they had been given about financing was false, so they had to return home as they did not have enough money to pay for the courses and other costs.

The Ministry of Education and Sports has advised parents and students to refer advertisements of this nature to the authorities to verify that the information provided is true.
