Over the decades, advertisements often targeted women, depicting them in the kitchen, conversing with children, serving dinner, cleaning, and otherwise espousing the joy of a clean home or the latest kitchen appliance.
Since the 50′s, a lot has changed in way of women’s rights and their duties in and out of the house. I highly doubt any company could get away with phrases like “The Chef does everything but cook – that’s what wives are for!” nowadays.
Well, maybe I’m wrong, as today I found in my letter box an advertising leaflet with the following slogan: “To become the BEST WIFE & MOM in Laos” …. how to achieve this? You just need to buy the latest kitchen from iFurniture.
