Weathermen Warn Of Strong Winds & Rain

People throughout the country are advised to be on the alert for the possibility of severe weather from March 20-23 when a tropical storm could pass over the country.

The Meteorology and Hydrology Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued the warning on Tuesday.

The storm has the potential to bring light rain, hail, and strong winds.

Weather warnings were issued for the capital and the provinces of Vientiane, Savannakhet, Borikhamxay, Khammuan, Xaysomboun, Champasssak, Saravan, Xekong, Attapeu, Phongsaly, XiengKhuang, Oudomxay, LuangNamtha, Bokeo, LuangPrabang, HuaphanandXayaboury.

All regions are advised to listen out for further forecasts issued by the Department, so that at-risk areas can prepare for storm activity and take steps to prevent damage.

In strong winds, people are advised to keep away from advertising boards, trees and any unsecure buildings as they may collapse.

Last week, dwellings, schools and farmland in various parts of the country were battered by strong winds and heavy rain.
