A total of 64.5 percent of adults have now been vaccinated against Covid-19, the Ministry of Health’s Centre of Information and Education for Health reported on Monday.

Medical teams are working diligently to ensure that everyone in priority groups is vaccinated but many elderly people have difficulty getting to vaccination sites, the Centre said.

Collaboration between health workers and village officials is needed in providing vaccinations for priority groups, the Centre advised.

Before vaccinations take place, health workers should arrange a suitable location and inform villagers of the time and place that vaccinations will be available.

The Centre urged everyone who has not yet been immunised to come forward for vaccination as soon as possible.

Under the government’s vaccination programme, inoculations are being offered at Vientiane’s main hospitals as well as at nine district hospitals and the Chinese Temple in Dongpalaep village, Chanthabouly district, from Monday to Friday.

As of November 22, a total of 63,159 people had contracted Covid-19, 133 had died from the virus, and 11,490 people are under observation or receiving treatment.
