Four Shot Dead, One Wounded During Bokeo Armed Robbery

Four Chinese nationals were killed and one was injured during an attempted armed robbery in Tonpheung district, Bokeo province on Tuesday (July 7) with local police still hunting for the assailant.

According to a security official at Bokeo’s Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, the armed robbery occurred at around 8pm on July 7 at Khuan village, Tonpheung district, Bokeo province.

The holdup resulted in three men and one woman being killed, while another man sustained gunshot wounds.

The suspect is also a Chinese national with local police urgently pursuing the investigation.

The robber was armed with a gun and knife and shot the victims as they were driving out of the casino in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone. The attacker then fled on foot without taking any of the victims’ property, the security official said.


Local officers checked inside the victims’ car and found a substantial amount of cash, including Chinese and Thai currency.

Local police have interviewed witnesses, checked CCTV footage and are confident their investigations will lead to an early arrest.
