The National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on Tuesday warned that it will be difficult to prevent the spread of Covid-19 if people with the virus fail to provide information about those they have come into contact with.

The circulation of people carrying the virus is causing the disease to spread to colleagues, family members and within communities, if people fail to stick to the rules and stay at home.

Leading a press briefing on behalf of the taskforce on Tuesday, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control of the Ministry of Health, Dr Phonepaseuth Xayamongkhoun, announced 56 new infections.

This brings the total number of Covid cases in Laos since March last year to 1,878. The positive test results were obtained after 1,484 samples were tested on May 24.
