A thought provoking live performance art event titled “Out of My Mind” presented by Olé Viravong Scovill attracted a large curious audience  last Friday evening at i:cat gallery in Vientiane.

The 30 minute soulful and emotional performance was accompanied by an exhibition of contemporary art created by Ms Olé.

Ms Olé expressed her gratitude to the gallery and those attending the event. “I am so happy to do a live art performance for art lovers here again and many people have come here today. This is the second time, my first performance was organised last year,” she said.

“Live performance is a new kind of art for residents in Laos especially the Lao nationals. Hopefully this time presenting it will make people more familiar with it and enjoy it more in the future.”

“The live performance is about the soul featuring the mood, feelings, and emotions from inside our mind which can change all the time.”

“The performance is not easy for me. It is very challenging and difficult. There are many steps and materials used in the play.”

“I also would like to invite art lovers and interested people to visit the exhibition of my paintings and installation of live performance which will continue.”

Olé Viravong Scovill is an accomplished painter who has exhibited her paintings, drawings and performance photography over several years at i:cat gallery.

The well-known artist has exhibited her artworks both in Laos and other countries especially the US.
This was her second live art performance at i:cat gallery following last year’s “Speak Beauty”, which marked a departure from her works on canvas, paper and performance photography.

While developing her performance art Olé also embarked on a 25 metre wall mural, nearby her studio in Vientiane.

The current exhibition will run daily until June 25 with free entry from 10am-6pm at i:cat gallery, on Setthathirath Road, Simeuang village, Sisattanak district.
