The new Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane (KIH Vientiane), now the largest private hospital in Laos, has opened to provide comprehensive medical services to patients around the clock, according to the Vientiane Mai newspaper.

The grand opening of the hospital took place last Thursday, attended by Minister of Health Dr Bounfeng Phoummalaysith and numerous other officials.

Construction of the hospital began in May 2018 on a 3-hectare site in Donnokkhoum village, Sisattanak district. It has 254 beds and 38 medical examination rooms.

KIH Vientiane is a joint venture between the Bangkok Chain Hospital Public Company Limited (BCH) and a Lao investor, with registered capital of 120 billion kip.

The private hospital will provide an alternative for patients in Laos wishing to access quality medical services and should help to reduce the number of people crossing the border to seek treatment and consultation.

There will now be less need for people to get treatment across the border because the hospital employs experienced medical staff and is equipped with modern facilities. It will be able to admit patients night and day and offers many of the same services available in Thailand.

The hospital received the support of the Ministry of Health and its construction was completed according to plan. Its opening is an important step in upgrading health services in Laos to international standards.

KIH has provided scholarships for Lao medical students to study in Thailand so they can help improve standards of care in Laos. KIH is proud to be able to provide jobs for people in Laos and to raise the standards of medical professionals.
