La Suite Cocktail Bar

Just when you thought there was nowhere new to go in Vientiane for a drink anymore, La Suite quietly  crept onto the scene. This French-Lao creation by owner Robert looks deceptively innocuous from the outside, but brilliantly modern on the inside. Cool blue lights flash to the latest music clips playing on several screens, whilst a neon signboard promotes ‘jello-shots’, which are hard to pass up; they come in a syringe!

The furniture is comfortable but trendy and the whole place exudes a chic that’s been missing from Vientiane for a while. I was there on a week night but even so there were quite a number of humvees parked outside belonging to young Lao who can down cocktails like the best of them.

Robert himself is very friendly and frequently comes over to check on his customers. He kept me and my party full of peanuts the whole time and somehow convinced us to keep buying rounds (jello-shots probably helped this along). He can make a great mix of all manner of cocktails  but the house specialty is the AMF (adios m__’f__) which is something like a long island ice tea except bright blue. It tasted so good I had a few more and then it really was Adios for me!

La Suite is a great place for a drink before hitting the town, or for after work drinks as happy hour runs from 18:00 to 20:00. There’s free wifi, too. You can find La Suite on the airport road on the right-hand side just before Future pub.
