Lao Airlines has announced that flights to several domestic destinations will resume on June 27 and July 2, after being initially planned for June 25.

The changes have been made in accordance with each province’s Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
The changes were announced on June 25 on the airline’s website.

Last week, the Director of the airline’s Commercial Department, Mr Noudeng Chanthaphasouk, said domestic flights would take place once, twice or three times a week between Vientiane and various provinces.

Eligible passengers are those who have had two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine and have been given permission by the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control to leave the capital.

Mr Noudeng also said that all domestic flights were planned for take-off on June 25. However, the airline has now changed the flight schedules for some provinces, such as between Vientiane and Xieng Khuang, which will operate once every Friday in both directions.

These flights are now scheduled to resume on July 2.

Flights on the Vientiane-Luang Namtha and Luang Namtha-Vientiane routes are planned for three times a week (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) with the start date set at June 27.

The Vientiane-Oudomxay and Oudomxay-Vientiane routes will operate twice a week (Friday and Sunday), and will start on July 2.

Flights on the Vientiane-Luang Prabang, Luang Prabang-Vientiane, Vientiane-Pakxe, Pakxe-Vientiane, Vientiane-Oudomxay and Oudomxay-Vientiane routes remain unchanged and will operate twice a week after beginning on June 25.

Airline officials also said flights on the Vientiane-Savannakhet and Savannakhet-Vientiane routes will resume in the near future.

For safety measures, the airline has laid out conditions of travel which require passengers to present proof of vaccination or travel approval to the Covid-19 taskforces of Vientiane and their destination province.

All passengers must undergo a temperature check, wash their hands with sanitiser before boarding the aircraft, and wear a face mask during the flight and while in the terminal area.

The airline also advises passengers to maintain a safe distance from other people during the check-in and boarding process.

Passengers can get updates on domestic flight times on the Facebook page of Lao Airlines, at www.laoairlines.com, or call 1626.

Lao Airlines is also operating chartered flights to and from the Republic of Korea twice a week, and to and from China’s Kunming twice a week.
