After purchasing a ticket through the app, passengers can pick up the ticket at the stations. Tickets can be purchased seven days in advance of travel.

The LCR app is available for download on Android devices via Google Play and is expected to be available in the App store for Apple devices soon. Payment methods include UnionPay, Alipay, and WeChat Pay.

Passengers will be pleased to learn about this easier method of ticket purchase, as the existing system has proved to be inconvenient and cumbersome, drawing numerous complaints. It is a big step forward in facilitating train travel, especially for tourists with time constraints.

At present, people wanting to catch a train from Vientiane have to queue for a long time at the station outside the city center to buy tickets.

The number of passengers traveling on the Laos-China Railway is continuing to grow, reaching a record high of 10,197 on March 4, according to the railway operator.

In January and February, the railway carried a total of 417,400 passengers, an increase of 256.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

The railway also transported 647,700 tons of freight in these two months, an increase of 320 percent compared to the same period last year.
