The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other involved sectors held a ceremony at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane to officially launch the eVisa service in Laos today.

Foreign Affairs Minister Mr Saleumxay Kommasith said the government has approved seven border crossings where eVisas will be accepted. This will make it easier for foreigners who have been issued an eVisa online to enter Laos.

The official website for the eVisa application is https://laoevisa.gov.la

The visas may be used at Wattay International Airport, the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, Second Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, Fourth Lao-Thai Friendship, Luang Prabang International Airport, Pakxe International Airport, and the Boten border crossing from China into Laos.

“To begin with, we will only accept eVisas at two locations – Wattay International Airport and the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge. We will then expand this service to the rest of the seven border crossings,” he added.

Mr Saleumxay said the second stage of the initiative would depend on the prevailing circumstances. In the future, they would consider requesting approval from the government for the use of eVisas at other border crossings around the country.
