More Than 4 Million People Vaccinated Against Covid

More than 4 million people have now had either one or two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, taking Laos a step closer to meeting the target to vaccinate 50 percent of the adult population by the end of this year.

As of August 29, nationwide 2,420,333 people had received a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and 1,784,707 people had been given two doses.

In Vientiane, 469,469 people have had a first dose and 346,783 people have had two doses.
In Vientiane province, 200,211 people have had one dose and 139,614 people have had two doses.


In Bokeo province,109,401 people have had a first dose and 100,108 people have had two injections.

Provinces recording low vaccination rates include Phongsaly, where only 24,326 people have had one injection and 22,035 people have had two, and Xaysomboun, where 26,327 people have had one vaccination and 23,821 people have had two.

The Covid-19 update for August 30 revealed 155 new cases, with the figures reported by province as follows: Champassak: 53 (all imported), Saravan: 49 (48 imported, 1 community-acquired), Savannakhet: 28 (19 imported, 9 community-acquired), Khammuan: 14 (all imported), Bokeo: 3 (community-acquired), and Luang Prabang: 1 (imported).

Luang Namtha and Vientiane provinces each reported one community-acquired case.

Vientiane reported five imported cases.

To date, Savannakhet province has recorded the highest number of cases at 5,126, followed by Champassak province with 3,685, and Vientiane with 2,471.

Huaphan province has not recorded any cases of Covid-19.
