New Arena – Vientiane’s First Covered Sportsfield

The newly opened sporting arena, called “New Arena” has proven to be a big hit among local and expat soccer players. More and more people are developing a strong interest in futsal for fun and fitness and play the game on pitches on weekends and in the evening.

The ‘New Arena’ is one of the first private sports complexes in Laos to feature modern equipment and covered fields which will allows to use the facility no matter the weather conditions.

The New Arena Sport Complex features two ‘futsal‘ fields (smaller than regular sized football fields for indoor play) surfaced with Astroturf, an artificial surface that resembles grass but is much more durable.

There is also a swimming pool at the complex as well as a restaurant with free WiFi internet.New Arena – Vientiane’s first covered sportsfield

The Mekong Development Sole Co., Ltd. also plans to build more sports venues in other districts of Vientiane, including a fitness centre, hoping that the new facilities will help develop sports in Laos. In the future, the company will open an academy to train junior level footballers, to give further support to young footballers in Laos. The Lao Football Federation is training up the national futsal team, which has played in Asean level matches in the past.
