VietJetAir will start direct flights between Vientiane and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on February 25.

The flight, which takes 1 hour and 45 minutes, will take place four times weekly, with round trips scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The flight will bolster connectivity between Laos and Vietnam as well as strengthen ties between Vientiane and Ho Chi Minh City in tourism and other areas of cooperation.

With Visit Laos Year 2024 now in full swing, the flight will be a welcome addition to incentives encouraging Vietnamese citizens and other travelers to visit Laos.
On January 10, VietJetAir was once again ranked as the world’s safest airline in 2024 by AirlineRatings, a global airline safety and product rating website.

In its annual assessments, AirlineRatings monitors 385 airlines worldwide by considering the airline’s record of incidents, the age of its aircraft, and the results of inspections conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and other aviation bodies.

VietJet and its global fare partners have been honored to be ranked in the top 10 for several consecutive years, receiving awards for flight safety from crew and passengers.

AirlineRatings also rated VietJet at the 7-star level, which is the highest global ranking for aviation safety, a record that the airline has maintained in consecutive years since 2018, according to the Pasaxon newspaper.

VietJetAir and Lao Airlines have jointly established an aircraft repair facility at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, which has enhanced the proactive approach of the airline in aircraft maintenance.

Last year AirAsia revived direct flights between Vientiane and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, opening up another popular travel route.

AirAsia also operates flights from Vientiane to Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei in Taiwan, Penang in Malaysia, and Guangzhou and Kunming in China.
