Weather Forecast: Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Forecast Nationwide Until July 9

A low pressure system is covering all parts of Laos under the influence of the southwest monsoon, bringing thunderstorms, heavy rain​ and gusting winds, especially in the northern and central provinces, until July 9, the Meteorology and Hydrology Department has forecast.

There will be thunderstorms, light rain and occasional strong ​winds​ throughout Huaphan and Xieng Khuang provinces, where temperatures will range from 20-32 degrees Celsius.

It will be hotter in the northwest with temperatures ranging from 23-36C, along with thunderstorms and heavy rain in some parts of Luang Namtha and Bokeo provinces. 

The central provinces of Vientiane, Borikhamxay and Khammuan will also have thunderstorms and heavy rain, with an expected temperature range of 23-36C. In Xaysomboun province, temperatures will be lower at 17-28C, with light rain and occasional gusting winds.

In the south there will be thunderstorms and strong winds in some areas of Champassak, Xekong and Attapeu provinces, with temperatures ranging from 23-33C.

Everyone should be prepared for weather extremes and keep track of forecasts, the Meteorology and Hydrology Department warns.

Thailand’s Meteorology Department has forecast isolated to scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in provinces close to Laos, namely Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom, from July 5-10.

Temperatures will range from 22-38C and winds will be southwesterly with a speed of 10-20 km/hour, according to the department’s website.
