The Ministry of Finance issued a notice last week reminding vehicle owners to pay the road tax by the end of this month, or face a fine.

Road users have convenient ways to pay the road tax including over the counter at banks, via ATM, online banking such as BCEL One or i-banking or any online payment system of representative banks, automated road tax kiosks, and registered payment service points such as BCOME.

Vehicle owners paying after March 31 will be fined on top of the regular fee, with those not having paid their 2017 to 2018 tax coughing up an extra 60 percent per year and an additional 40 percent for those who didn’t pay last year.

According to the President’s Ordnance on Road Tax dated September 20, 2017, the road tax for a motorbike with a 110cc or smaller engine is 15,000 kip, while it is 100,000 kip for a bike with a 200cc or bigger engine. Cars with a 1,000cc or smaller engine are charged 100,000 kip, while the road tax for vehicles with engine sizes ranging from 3,001 to 4,000cc is 350,000 kip.
