Beat The Heat – Best Public Pools In Vientiane
Vientiane can get pretty hot, especially in recent years (climate change is real!). Most of us don’t have private swimming pools, but don’t worry. Although cooling down under a cool lush waterfall is a long lost dream, there are several pools available throughout the city.
Generally, mornings are quieter (while people are at work and kids are in school) and the pools become fairly busy toward the evening. It may also help to check with public pools whether there are any school events or swimming lessons/clubs practicing before your head over. This shouldn’t be a problem at hotel pools.
Most pools also have shallow kiddies pools next to the main pools and provide bar/restaurant facilities for the thirsty parents. It is important to note that pools require proper swimming attire (no skinny dipping) and that sunblock is a must in this part of the world if you don’t want to burn to a crisp. Some hotels also have gym facilities (often at an extra fee) for those who want to heat up before cooling down.

The pool area at Sengdara Fitness Centre includes a nice swimming pool, kiddies pool and Jacuzzi. There is also a poolside café for when you need a break from all the swimming. The fitness centre also provides a complete gym facility and massage spa, although you are required to wear proper gym attire if you wish to make use of the fitness equipment.
